Hello Readers!
So I have been slacking in the blogging world. Life has been happening.
But I will get back on track.
I read a quote on Twitter the other day:
"The saying goes; You only live once. Well no, You live every single day. You only die once."
This has become my new mantra.
{Until my next post}

New Release: The Deep End of the Sea by Heather Lyons
Out Today 2/13/2014!!!!! The Deep End of the Sea by Heather Lyons
Excerpt: “Where are Hades and Persephone?” I ask, glancing around the empty living room. They are nowhere to be seen tonight; neither are any of the Automatons.
The corner of Hermes’ mouth quirks. “Out. Possibly in the Underworld. One never knows with those two.”
Relief unfurls in the muscles in my shoulders. Still, I can’t help but ask, “Without saying goodbye?”
He’s definitely amused. “Shall I fetch them for you?”
“No!” My answer is too quick, which I fear broadcasts just how ecstatic I am at the thought of being along with Hermes right now. And that realization causes me to blush for the millionth time around him in the last month, so I clarify, “Of course not. I was just curious.”
“Curiosity killed the cat, you know.” To my delight, his hand finds mine and our fingers intertwine. It is a delicious sensation: his hand, warm and worn in mine in just such a way that feels like it’s an extension of my body.
It must be criminal to adore touching someone so much.
“Did it, though?” I ask, and he laughs a burst of exasperated air.
“Possibly, but then again, who am I to judge, when I am often struck by curiosity that I cannot help but sate?” He gives me that dazzling grin of his and pulls me through the house. “Case in point: you.”
“Me?” I squeak unattractively. There are lights ahead through the French doors leading to the patio, and I am curious myself enough to wonder what they are, but not nearly as much as I am for what he might mean.
“Yes, you.” He glances back at me. “I’ve never told you that I was overcome with curiosity when I heard Athena cursed some girl from one of her temples. It wasn’t like it was the first time she’d gone vindictively bonkers, but she was really put out over you. I mean . . . one of her followers? Even that was low for her.” His fingers squeeze mine gently and we stop about twenty feet from the doors. “When I first showed up on your island . . .”
I am helpless at looking anywhere but in his eyes. Tonight, they’re green. Vivid, beautiful, clear green. “Yes?”
“I’d been warned that you were a monster and that I best keep my distance. That you would slay me at the slightest provocation, and naturally, I believed it, as I could not blame anyone’s hatred toward my family after what my sister and uncle had done to you. But once Death handed me that first soul and departed, I heard you crying. My curiosity inflamed tenfold. What kind of so-called monster weeps like her heart had shattered and never would form whole again?”
Like clockwork, my cheeks burn. His fingers brush my reddened skin ever so gently before I turn my face to rest in his hand. The butterflies in my chest swarm frantically. “My sister misjudged you. I knew that the very second I heard your anguish. I’m afraid I was lost to you from that moment on. I had to discover all that made you you, even if I would suffer the same fate as the proverbial cat. And I never cared about the risks, as long as my curiosity about you was sated first.”
“Truly?” The word barely escapes my lips.
His eyes are so intense. “Truly.”

THE DEEP END OF THE SEA Synopsis:
What if all the legends you’ve learned were wrong?
Brutally attacked by one god and unfairly cursed by another she faithfully served, Medusa has spent the last two thousand years living out her punishment on an enchanted isle in the Aegean Sea. A far cry from the monster legends depict, she’s spent her time educating herself, gardening, and desperately trying to frighten away adventure seekers who occasionally end up, much to her dismay, as statues when they manage to catch her off guard. As time marches on without her, Medusa wishes for nothing more than to be given a second chance at a life stolen away at far too young an age.
But then comes a day when Hermes, one of the few friends she still has and the only deity she trusts, petitions the rest of the gods and goddesses to reverse the curse. Thus begins a journey toward healing and redemption, of reclaiming a life after tragedy, and of just how powerful friendship and love can be—because sometimes, you have to sink in the deep end of the sea before you can rise back up again.

EXCERPT:
“You got a visitor, Tess.” He rested his chin atop my head, which caused my pulse to try
to outrun my heart. “Two of them to be exact.”
“Okay.”
There was a pause. “Are your eyes closed?”
“No.”
His chin slid off my head and then his chest rumbled as he laughed. “Your eyes are
closed.” He laughed again. “Open them up.”
Cursing under my breath, I pried one eye open and then jerked against him. His arm
tightened. “Oh wow …”
The black-and-white horse was the closest, standing mere feet away from me. The brown
one wasn’t too far, shaking its head and making soft snorts. My eyes were wide as they bounced
between the two creatures. “They’re not carnivorous, right? Because at their size, they could eat
me.”
Jase laughed deeply as his hand shifted up, resting in the center of my stomach, just
below my breasts. “Horses do not eat people, you little idiot.”
I started, eyes narrowing. “There’s always a first.”
The lips pulled back on the black-and-white horse as if it was smirking at me.
“This one right here? Mr. Friendly? Jack calls him Bubba One,” he said in a quiet,
calming voice. But air hitched in my throat when his thumb moved in a slow circle over the thin
material of my tank top, hitting against the wire in my bra. “And the brown one is Bubba Two.”
Mouth dry, I wetted my lips. “That’s good for remembering names.”
He chuckled as his pinkie and forefinger started to move up and down, reaching my belly
button and then sliding back up. It was almost as if he was unaware of what he was doing, or the
electrifying response the tiny motions were dragging out of me. “I think so too, but his real name
is Lightning.”
Said horse shook his head, tossing the shaggy mane.
“Lightning seems to be a more suitable name,” I admitted, relaxing as the seconds
passed. Maybe that was his intention. Distract me with the soft, almost innocent touches. It was
working. “What about Bubba Two?
“Ah, the one who is staring at the pail like it’s the holy mecca of grain?” His cheek
grazed mine as I laughed. “That’s Thunder. And we’re going to feed them. Together.”
The friction his fingers created with my shirt sent tiny shivers up and down my back.
“With our hands?”
His answering laugh tipped the corners of my lips up. “Yes. With our hands.”
“After checking out the choppers on them, I’m not so sure about that.”
“You’ll be okay.” He slid his hand off my stomach and wrapped it around my wrist.
Slowly, he lifted my hand out in front of me. “Hold still.”
My heart lurched. “Jase—”
Lightning trotted forward and pressed his wet nose against my hand. I cringed, waiting
for him to eat my poor fingers. The horse didn’t. Nope. It nudged my hand as it whinnied softly.
He guided my hand up over Lightning’s jaw, all the way to the pointy, twitchy ears.
“See?” he murmured. “That’s not too bad, is it?”
I shook my head as my fingers curled along the soft coat. Lightning seemed to anticipate
the direction of the petting, pressing his long head against my hand as my fingers tangled in his
mane. It wasn’t bad at all.
Jase shifted behind me, and in an instant all thoughts of the horses evaporated. His hips
lined up against my backside, and I bit down on my lower lip as I focused on the white splotch
covering Lightning’s muzzle.
I could feel him—feel Jase. And there was absolutely no doubt in my mind that he was
affected by how close we were standing. That knowledge and the hard length of him left me
dizzy, just like it had done that Saturday night. An all too warm flush spread down my neck. In
the back of my head, I was rationalizing his physical reaction. He was a guy. Our bodies were pressed
together. If a wind blew on a guy’s private area, they got hard. So I should just ignore it,
but my body was so not on board with my head. My body was operating on a different playing
field. An ache centered low in my stomach. A sharp and sweet yearning raced through my veins.
“Not so scary, right?” His voice was deeper, richer. “They’re like dogs. Well, like a dog
that can carry around two hundred pounds, if not more.” Hand sliding off mine, he stepped back,
and the sudden emptiness of his body was like a cold shock. “Trust me.”
Then he smacked my ass.

NEW RELEASE: Savor by Monica Murphy
We are pleased to announce that Monica Murphy's SAVOR is now available for purchase! SAVOR is a sexy Contemporary Romance novel in Monica’s The Billionaire Bachelors Club Series, published by Avon Impulse (an imprint of HarperCollins). Go out and grab your copy today!!
ABOUT SAVOR: New York Times bestselling author Monica Murphy concludes her sexy Billionaire Bachelors Club series with a fiery romance that refuses to be left at the office… Bryn James can’t take much more. Smart, sexy Matthew DeLuca is everything she wants in a man, but he’s also her boss—the youngest, hottest vineyard owner in the Napa Valley—and he doesn’t see her as anything more than his shy assistant. That’s all about to change. Armed with a hot new look and an attitude to match, Bryn is determined to catch Matt’s eye… professionalism be damned. With his winery’s grand reopening approaching, Matt is trying to stay focused, but Bryn is suddenly making it very difficult. He’s always thought her prim demeanor effortlessly sexy, but Matt can’t deny that her transformation is jaw-dropping …and going to make it very difficult to keep his hands to himself. But when one thing leads to another and suddenly Matt is stripping Bryn bare, he’ll be faced with the biggest risk of his career—and his heart. Can he convince her—and himself—that this might just be more than a no-strings office affair?
EXCERPT:
“Don’t be so cranky. It’s okay to admit you have a thing for Bryn.” Ivy leans forward in her chair, a secretive smile curling her lips. “I have a feeling she has a thing for you too, you know.”
I do know. And I can’t act on it. Bryn James works for me. She’s my assistant. She’s by my side constantly; we spend more time with each other than probably anyone else in our lives, especially lately what with the winery’s grand reopening approaching. She’s a representative of my business. If I were to fuck around with the help and the relationship fell apart, I’d be in huge trouble. She could screw me over financially every which way by suing me for sexual harassment and I’d be left with a limp dick in my hand and a ruined business. Yeah. Not going to take the chance. Saw it happen with my father. Not going to let it happen to me. “It doesn’t matter. Nothing can happen.” I send Ivy a stern look. “And this conversation can never leave this office.”
Glancing over her shoulder, I try to see if Bryn is at her desk but the chair is empty. Thank Christ. Ivy’s expression goes solemn and she holds up three fingers. “This conversation stays here. Scout’s honor.”
“You were never a scout,” I mutter, afraid she’s making a promise on an untruth. She’ll probably just blab to everyone. Or specifically Archer and Gage. I don’t need to hear their shit. And I am worrying way too much over this.
She laughs again. “I won’t say a word, I promise. But I need to tell you something, Matt.” She leans in close, her voice dropping. “She’s got a major crush on you. You might not see it but it’s there—sounding in her voice, shining in her eyes, every time she looks at you, talks about you. The way her body turns into yours every time the two of you are together . . . it’s pretty obvious. A body language expert would have a field day with you two.”
Body language expert? What the hell is Ivy talking about? “I have no idea what you’re referring to, but office crushes are just that. Crushes. Harmless attractions no one ever acts on. Period. End of story.” This is what I keep telling myself. I can’t pursue anything with Bryn, no matter how much I’m tempted to. Not only would it be wildly inappropriate, dating my assistant, but we come from two different worlds. She seems nice and normal, quiet and unobtrusive, and I am anything but. My life has been a circus sideshow for years.
“I get it. You’re trying to do the right thing, and I admire that. So, of course you don’t see anything beyond an efficient assistant in Miss James.”
Well. Ivy’s not too far off the mark. When I first met Bryn, she hardly said two words, kept her head bent when I spoke to her and offered lots of yes-sir and no-sir answers. She had this way of almost blending in with the walls, like she didn’t want anyone to notice her. So I didn’t. As we got comfortable working together though, something happened. I’m thinking Ivy had a hand in Bryn’s slow transformation. She actually makes eye contact when she speaks to me, and she’s become somewhat animated. Started to wear bolder colors as well, drawing my attention to her chest though I keep my eyes averted as best I can. These subtle changes made me notice all of the little things—like the color of her eyes (blue), how her hair looks (like silk and I want to touch it), and the tempting fullness of her lips (they’re spectacular). Her gaze lingers when she looks at me and sometimes so does mine. Her smile softens, her voice drops lower when she speaks, sparking my imagination. Would she sound like that right before I kissed her? Took off her clothes? Took her to my bed? Yeah. All of those are dangerous thoughts. I almost prefer the old Miss James. The one who was like the wallpaper—boring and nondescript. Mean to say, but hell, the last thing I need is a distraction. And she’s become the biggest distraction I’m currently facing. The very last one I need.

My Review- Soar by Alyssa Rose Ivy
In the city that never sleeps the Chronicles continue…
Serving coffee is temporary, just like Casey's year off from school. She’s going to come up with a plan to stay in New York City and go back to college, and that plan does not involve dating a paranormal creature—let alone two.
Running the supernatural society of New York is not as fun as it sounds, especially when you still have to answer to your ex-girlfriend’s fiancé. Toby doesn’t mean to bring Casey into the chaos of his life, but he can't resist the girl who makes him smile when he thought no one else ever could.
Jared's in New York checking out a security risk for his best friend, the king. He plans to return to New Orleans quickly, but not if it means losing his chance with the brunette who pretends she wants nothing to do with him.
In over her head with a bunch of winged creatures who most definitely are not angels, Casey has to figure out who to trust with her life and maybe her heart.
About Alyssa Rose Ivy:
Alyssa Rose Ivy is a New Adult and Young Adult author who loves to weave stories with romance and a southern setting. Although raised in the New York area, she fell in love with the South after moving to New Orleans for college. After years as a perpetual student, she turned back to her creative side and decided to write. She lives in North Carolina with her husband and two young children, and she can usually be found with a cup of coffee in her hand.

My Review:
Where to begin...This is a series to watch. Soar had me captured with just the first few chapters. I will be honest I haven't read any of Alyssa's novels- and after reading Soar I can't wait to get my hands on her other books.
Casey finds herself mixed in with a supernatural life, she was just a simple girl working at a coffee shop to help out her struggling family. But then weird things start happening all around her. She meets the oh so hot Toby, that makes her start asking more questions.
Casey ends up with confusing feelings from everyone she is around. She has to make choices on what she knows and believes in, only to have a choice made for her by the enemy.
I can't wait to see what happens in The Empire Chronicles #2!

EXCERPT:
“Tell me your name.”
A shiver runs down my spine at the
commanding, deep voice that sounds in my ear. I keep myself still, trying my
best not to react considering we’re surrounded by at least a hundred people,
but oh, how I want to.
If I could, I’d throw myself into the arms
of the man who’s standing far too close to me.
He’s demanding to know my name as if I owe him some sort of favor, which
I can’t help but find hot.
Irritating, but hot.
“Tell me yours first,” I murmur in return,
turning my head in the opposite direction, so it appears I’m not even talking
to him. He stands behind me, tall and broad, imposing in his immaculate black
suit and crisp white shirt—the silvery tie he wears perfectly knotted at his
throat.
I might not be looking at this very
moment, but I’d memorized everything about him the moment I first saw him not
an hour ago. He’d drawn plenty of attention without saying a word, striding
into the room as if he owned it, casting that calculating gaze upon everyone in
attendance. Looking very much like the mighty king observing his lowly
subjects—until his eyes lit upon me.
He watched me for long, agonizing minutes.
Butterflies fluttered in my stomach as I felt his hungry eyes rake over my
body, and for a terrifying moment I wondered if he could see right through me.
I shifted the slightest bit, inwardly cursing myself for coming tonight, but I
held firm. I refused to react.
I still refuse to react.
“You don’t know who I am?” He sounds
amused at the notion, and I’m tempted to walk away without a word. My earlier
nerves evaporate, replaced by a steely spine and an even steelier attitude.
He’s so confident, so arrogant, I’m sure he believes he has me.
He doesn’t know who he’s dealing with
then, does he?
We’re at a local wine- and
brewery-tasting, and I’m here representing the bakery my family owns. The one I
was recently allowed to take over and run since I’d graduated college. The
business they all believe is going to fail. So
why not give it to Marina? She can’t screw it up too badly.
That’s what I overheard my father telling
my uncle. The memory of his words still cuts straight to the bone.
Finally I chance a glance at the man
behind me, drinking in his thick brown hair tinged with gold, the way it
tumbles across his forehead, his twinkling green eyes, the faint smile that
curves his full lips. The combination gives him a boyish appearance. It’s a
complete illusion because there is nothing boyish about this virile man before
me.
“Perhaps you can enlighten me.” I offer a
carefree smile and turn to face him, the nerves returning tenfold when he takes
a step toward me, invading my personal space. His scent hits me first: clean
and subtle, a mixture of soap and just . . . him. No
cologne that I can detect.
Rather unusual. Most of the men I know
slather themselves in expensive scents all with the purpose of drawing us silly
women in. Instead, they end up choking us.
With the exception of this man. I find the
uniqueness refreshing.
A slow smile appears, revealing perfectly
straight white teeth. “Gage Emerson.” He thrusts his hand toward me. “And you are . . .?”
He’s not very subtle. And he’s exactly who
I suspected, not that I had any real doubt. The very man who recently bought up
what feels like half of the Napa Valley, all in the hopes of turning it around
and selling it to God knows who just to earn a hefty profit.
Not caring in the least that he’s forever
changing the landscape of the very place I’ve grown up in. And devastating my
family in the process.
“Marina Knight,” I say. God, I sound
breathless, and I want to smack myself. I’m not here tonight because of him. I
came for other reasons. To promote the family bakery, to mix and mingle with
local business owners, many I consider friends. My life in the Napa Valley is
all I know.
And this gorgeous man standing in front of
me is trying to take what I know away from me for good. ABOUT TORN (Book 2 in the Billionaire Bachelors Club Series):

EXCERPT:
I slowly opened the door and my jaw
dropped. Standing there was a shirtless guy with a body that couldn’t be real.
Hard. Muscular. Perfect. That’s the way I’d describe his chest. He had abs that
would make underwear models jealous. My
eyes zeroed in on a few beads of sweat making a descent down his chest. When
they reached his stomach, I forced my eyes up to his face.
He grinned. “So you’re why Toby
isn’t getting the job done.”
“What?” I asked, forcing my eyes to
stop looking at his chiseled abs.
“You’d distract me too.” He didn’t
bother to hide his appraisal.
I looked down and crossed my arms.
I met his eyes again and was met by an expression of humor and want that nearly
melted me.
“I’m just staying here.” I felt the
need to explain myself. If not for my sake or dignity, for Toby’s. I promised myself it wasn’t because I wanted
this sexy guy to know I was single.
“Staying here, huh?” He smiled.
“Well, you can stay at my place anytime.”
“Do you live around here?” His
wider grin made me regret the words. “I’m just wondering. Not because I want to
stay with you.”
“I’m from New Orleans, but I have a
place here too—at least I’m borrowing it.”
“Oh. Well, Toby isn’t here.”
“You already said that.” He stepped
into the apartment. “Know where he is?”
“No. I don’t.” I took a few steps
back.
He matched my movements, ending up
just as close to me as he was before. “No kiss goodbye this morning?”
“That would have been hard since I
was in the guest room.” I put a hand on my hip. Sexy or not, I wasn’t going to
let this guy get to me.
“Guest room? Likely.”
I could feel my blood boiling. How
was he getting under my skin so easily? “It’s true. If you’ll excuse me, I need
to get my stuff and go home.”
“Are you going to wear that?” He
gestured to my outfit, and that’s when I remembered what I was sleeping in.
I willed myself not to blush, but I
could practically feel the blood rushing to my face.
“I’m guessing those are the guest
pajamas, huh?”
“I just borrowed them… Wait, why am
I bothering to explain myself to you?”
“I don’t know, you tell me.” He
took another step toward me.
“I know the kind of guy you are.”
“You do? Please, tell me. I can’t
wait to hear this assessment.”
“You’re arrogant, pig headed, and
you think a girl’s just going to fall to her knees if you take your shirt off…”
To my credit, I was still standing. “Speaking of which, why is your shirt off?”
He smirked. “Why do you think it’s off? Since apparently you’re the expert on guys
like me. I’m going to ignore the fall to their knees comment. You look cute
when you blush, but it might push you over the edge.”
In
the city that never sleeps the Chronicles continue…
Serving
coffee is temporary, just like Casey's year off from school. She’s going to
come up with a plan to stay in New York City and go back to college, and that
plan does not involve dating a paranormal creature—let alone two.
Running
the supernatural society of New York is not as fun as it sounds, especially
when you still have to answer to your ex-girlfriend’s fiancé. Toby doesn’t mean
to bring Casey into the chaos of his life, but he can't resist the girl who
makes him smile when he thought no one else ever could.
Jared's
in New York checking out a security risk for his best friend, the king. He
plans to return to New Orleans quickly, but not if it means losing his chance
with the brunette who pretends she wants nothing to do with him.
In
over her head with a bunch of winged creatures who most definitely are not
angels, Casey has to figure out who to trust with her life and maybe her heart.

Review: A Matter of Truth by Heather Lyons
A MATTER OF TRUTH Synopsis:
Not long ago, Chloe Lilywhite seemingly had it all: a prized spot on the Magicals’ Council as lead Creator, a loving fiancé and Connection, and a wealth of good friends. But the poised young woman she projected was nothing more than a façade. Her parents all but disowned her. Power plays and accusations of murder within the Council rocked her confidence. And most difficult of all, her secret, a secondary Connection to Jonah’s twin brother, Kellan, became painfully impossible to resist. Desperate to gain control over her rapidly unraveling existence, Chloe did the unthinkable: she ran away. Now living and working in Alaska under an alias, Chloe is slowly discovering who she is and, more importantly, who she wants to be. But the more she tries to leave the Magical world behind, the harder it becomes to stay hidden. The Elders are back with a vengeance, and the stakes have never been higher. Chloe finally has to make a choice: embrace her pre-ordained Fate or pave her own way in the worlds. One thing’s for sure, though—she’s finally up for the challenge.
*This is a New Adult title, suitable for readers 18+*

My Review:
A Matter of Truth is the 4th book in the Fate Series. It
picks up right where we left off- Chloe running to Alaska. I will say I thought
very hard and tried to come up with numerous scenarios of what will happen to
Chloe now that she has run from everything that she knows and feels. And
honestly nothing came close to what unfolds in AMOT – the whole time I was
reading (which was in one sitting- and yes I did not sleep until I was done) I
was on the edge of my seat. You get so wrapped up into this world Heather has
created that you’re left with a book hang-over begging for the next book.
In A Matter of Truth we are taken through the many emotions
that Chloe experiences in order to find herself and the truth within. I believe
the need Chloe had to run away was absolutely necessary to create a balance and
be able to do something all on her own without judgment from watching eyes. But
no matter what, time catches up to her (being the Creator) and puts her new
friends and family in danger. Chloe becomes awe-inspiring in her act to protect
and fight with any means needed. And not only is she dealing with the Elders
but she is also missing a piece of herself- her connections.
What do you say to the two most important people in your
life when you’re reunited after up and leaving without a trace 6 months ago?
Chloe must go through the motions to put her life back
together in Annar and be the Creator that everyone needs her to be. And what
she finally learns is that even though Fate plays a part in her life she still
gets to choose her future.
A Matter of Truth does not disappoint, Heather evokes
numerous feelings in her writing. Here are some of those “feelings” I had while
reading A Matter of Truth: heart-wrenching, emotional, romantic, inspiring,
captivating, fanciful, and gripping.
I can’t say it enough- EVERYONE should read this series. Way
to Go Heather, yet another amazingly fabulous story!
