LICK by Kylie Scott

Waking up in Vegas was never meant to be like this.

Evelyn Thomas’s plans for celebrating her twenty-first birthday in Las Vegas were big. Huge. But she sure as hell never meant to wake up on the bathroom floor with a hangover to rival the black plague, a very attractive half-naked tattooed man, and a diamond on her finger large enough to scare King Kong. Now if she could just remember how it all happened.

One thing is for certain, being married to rock and roll’s favourite son is sure to be a wild ride.

My Review:
Lick by Kylie Scott is a thoroughly enjoying and easy read.  I enjoyed the subtle hints of mystery and intrigue throughout the story.  The book did move very quickly, and sometimes almost unrealistically – which made it difficult to make a connection with either main character in the beginning of the book.  However, by the middle of the story, I came to love both Evelyn and David.  Their romance was not what you would consider an epic love story, but it did feel natural.

I would give this story 3 out of 5 stars.  I was hoping for more of an epic type love, but otherwise it is well done.  Definitely an entertaining read.

This Man Confessed by Jodi Ellen Malpas

THE STUNNING CONCLUSION TO THE THIS MAN TRILOGY!

The Manor, the very place where their passionate love affair began, fills with guests on what should be the happiest day of Ava and Jesse's lives. She has accepted that she'll never tame the fierceness in Jesse-and she doesn't want to. Their love is profound, their connection powerful, but just when she thinks that she's finally gotten beneath his guarded exterior, more questions arise, leading Ava to believe that Jesse Ward may not be the man she thinks he is. He knows too well how to take her to a place beyond ecstasy . . . but will he also drive her to the brink of despair? It's time for this man to confess.

MY REVIEW:

Wow! You must take the book title literally. The series follows the wealthy "older" man with secrets and lot's of power. And the beautiful young interior designer Ava. From the moment Jesse meets Ava he is swept away by her, but Ava is hesitant even though she is clearly affected by him.

"'Ava' he says quietly, but I've no doubt the whole room can hear him. The silence is screaming. 'My beautiful girl.' He smiles mildly. 'All mine.' Leaning up, he kisses me sweetly, 'I don't need to stand up and declare to everyone here how much I love you. I'm not interested in satisfying anyone of that. Except you.' He sighs, 'You've taken me completely, baby. You've swallowed me up and drowned me in your beauty and spirit. You know I can't function without you. You've made my life as beautiful as you are. You've made me want to live a worthy existence-a life with you. All I need is you-to look at you; to listen to you; to feel you.' He drops my hands and smooths his palms over my thighs. 'To love you.'"

Ava and Jesse go through life's tribulations with up's and down's. Events that happen for them come at price due to Jesse's history with The Manor. But a part of marriage is loving and trusting your partner "till death do you part". This Man Confessed is a nice conclusion to the series, it still keeps you on your toes and makes your heart melt when you read it.

I don't want to give any spoilers, but if have not read the series then you must stop what your doing and go buy it now! Once you start you will not put it down till you are finished with all 3.

About the Author:

First time British author Jodi Ellen Malpas was born and raised in the Midlands town of Northampton, where she lives with her family. Working for her father’s construction business fulltime, she tried to ignore the lingering idea of This Man until it became impossible. She made time and found the courage to release her creative streak, unleashing the character Mr Jesse Ward, Lord of The Manor.

Jodi took a chance on a story with some intense characters and exploded onto the self-published author scene at the end of October 2012, sparking some incredible reactions from women all over the world. Within two months of self-publishing This Man, Jodi made the decision to leave her day job to concentrate on her new and very unexpected career in writing.

The second instalment of the This Man Trilogy, ‘Beneath This Man’ was published in January 2013 and fast became an Amazon Bestseller, holding #1 position in the chart of its genre for many weeks in both the US and UK. Now the anticipation for the third and final part of the trilogy, ‘This Man Confessed’, is rife and will be published July 2nd 2013 by Grand Central Publishing.

Fear of Falling by S.L. Jennings

COMING JULY 16TH, 2013!

"Don’t worry,” he smiled, pulling me into the hard warmth of his chest. “I’ve got you. I’ll always catch you when you fall.”

And just like that, Blaine had staked his claim on the untouched part of me that no living soul had ever moved. He had captured every fear, every reservation, and crushed them in the palm of his inked hand.

I can’t remember the last time I felt completely safe. Security seemed more like a luxury to me, reserved for those who were fortunate enough to have picture perfect childhoods. For those who didn’t bear the ugly scars that keep me bound in constant, debilitating fear. I’ve run from that fear my entire life. But when I met him, for once, I couldn’t run anymore.

He scared the hell out of me in a way that excited every fiber of my being. It wasn’t the tattoos or the piercings. It wasn’t the warmth that seemed to radiate from his frame and blanket me whenever he was near. It was just…him. The scary beautiful man that threatened to alter 23 years of routine and rituals, and make me face my crippling fear.

My name is Kami and I am constantly afraid. And the thing that scares me the most is the very thing I want.
MY REVIEW:

"Shit Happens. I never really understood that saying. Yeah, there were certain situations in life that were shitty, but they were just that; they were life. So it really wasn't the shit in life that was, well, so shitty. It was life itself. Life happens. That was much more appropriate."

Kami has grown up her whole life afraid. She wasn't given a normal childhood, her normal was scary and ended up giving her hundreds of reasons to not trust anyone. We follow Kami when she is in the beginning of her adulthood, experiencing different emotions and just trying to survive.

Her running got her to run straight into the hot tattooed Blaine. And she comes up with hundreds of reasons why she needs to stay away from the one man who makes her not want to run anymore. But life does not come easy for Kami.

S.L. Jennings did an amazing job at portraying a real disease and pairs it with a beautiful story. There are a lot of hurdles that Kami has to overcome, and she can't do it alone.

As I was coming to the end of the story I was hoping it would end with a cliffhanger (and I normally end up broken hearted/depressed) because I felt for Kami and the story that was told.

FYI- Blaine- super hot! Tall, brown hair, tattoos, piercings, abs for days.....sounds so dreamy!

"I didn't realize how deeply his words had touched me until I felt a hot tear roll down my cheek. I don't know why Blaine shared that with me, but I was thankful. It reminded me that pain was necessary. Pain was life's curveball. Without it, we would never appreciate what it felt like to be loved."

"You don't have to be afraid of falling. Just close your eyes, let go, and know that I'll always be here with arms outstretched, ready to catch you."
