A MATTER OF HEART Synopsis:

No longer in high school, Chloe Lilywhite is now living and working in Annar, the Magicals' city-state plane of existence. Since moving, she's joined the Council, gone on missions with the Guard, moved into her own apartment, and enrolled at the University of Annar. Plus, she's happily engaged to be married to Jonah Whitecomb, the literal man from her dreams, not to mention her Connection. While she still struggles with aspects of her craft, Chloe feels like she's finally coming into her own, especially after a difficult year that had her questioning nearly everything in her life.

After a brutal attack by the Elders, her life is turned upside down once more. Accusations fly throughout the Council and Guard, forcing Chloe to confront her worst fears about what's she's capable of as a Creator. And then there's the matter of Kellan Whitecomb, Jonah's twin brother and Chloe's ex, who resurfaces after disappearing months before. Although Chloe chose Jonah, and despite their best efforts, the two find it hard to stay away from one another.

But no matter what Fate throws at her, Chloe is determined to take charge of her life, even as it begins to spiral out of control.

A MATTER OF HEART is book 2 in the Fate Series, a mature Young Adult/New Adult fantasy.

REVIEW of A Matter of Heart

"I think about how it felt to have his hand in mine, and how he'd unconsciously rub his thumb up and down my skin in an intimate way. I think about how his hair would tickle me when he'd press down on me, and we'd kiss so much that I'd be delirious. I think about how, when I was falling apart, he risked his own heart to make sure I was okay."-Chloe
"There's only you. You're the only one I'll ever see. The only one I'll ever want."-Kellan
"What I feel for you goes above love...I don't think I can describe it, even to you, Chloe. What I feel for you-it's...your my best friend. My favorite person. Someone I know I can go to when I'm happy or sad or anything in between. The only person who makes me so hot and fills me with so much want and need I can't even think straight...I don't think you truly understand what you mean to me. I don't think you ever will."-Jonah

Oh my sweet goodness! I can't even begin to tell you how much I absolutely love the Fate series by Heather Lyons. I will start with Chloe, I was hooked from the beginning when she describes herself as a chronic daydreamer. She dreams about places to run to when the inevitable, predetermined outcomes of her rigid life leave her no choice. I feel like I can totally relate to her because I find myself in similar situations where I daydream that I am somewhere else. Chloe feels she has been dealt a bad hand from fate when she learns more about her role as a Creator in the world of Magicals from her guard, Karl, then her own parents. Also she learns that Fate as given her a "connection" to the guy she has literally dreamed about her whole life and feel in love with, Jonah, and that he has a twin brother, Kellan.
In AMOH Chloe has moved to Annar, started college, attending council meetings as Creator, and going on missions with the Guard. In a matter of a year her life has changed drastically and the pressure she feels would be overwhelming for any normal 18 year old Magical. Events in her life become messy when it involves the twin Whitecomb brothers. She is engaged to Jonah and has to go on multiple missions with Kellan since he is apart of the Guard. Meanwhile the threat of Magicals being wiped out by the Elders are a constant reminder to Chloe that the people on all the planes are relying on her to stop the killings by the Elders. Chloe is very strong willed and she doesn't want anyone to see her breakdown or let anyone down.
After a turn of events and struggles that Chloe goes through, she ends up making herself sick. And still she refuses to back down from her duties as Creator. The position her heart is left in is that she knows she has a "connection" with two guys...Jonah and Kellan. How do you choose when Fate has given you both? Do you choose the man you grew up with in your dreams or the man that has been by your side through the good and the bad? When you know that you are in love with both men and can't even think of having to make a choice without breaking your heart in the process.

So who does Chloe choose; Jonah or Kellan??? She chooses to run when the inevitable outcome of her rigid life leaves her no choice.

New Release Damaged 2- June 24th, 2013- SQUEE

Damaged 2

We left off with Sidney running smack into her past with her twin brother Sam and her ex-boyfriend Dean. Sidney is a Jersey girl that left home and everything she knew including her family to get away from her abusive ex-boyfriend Dean. She went as far South as possible to Texas to start a new life and a fresh start.
With her fresh start she comes to meeting Dr. Peter Granz who is stunningly HOT and has the clearest sky blue eyes Sidney has ever seen.  But nothing comes easy for Sidney when she finds out that Peter is a professor at her college and her new boss in the English department.  They try to remain platonic friends but her best friend and roommate Millie talks Sidney into a swing dance club. And with Sidney’s luck she finds out that Dr. Granz is the supervising teacher for the new club. Just when Sidney was doing a good job at avoiding Peter she now gets to be in close proximity with him dancing.

Everything comes out at once when Sam come to Texas and brought Dean with him, to take Sidney home to her sick mother. It takes a turn for the worst when Dean takes matters into his own hands, but Peter is there to save her.

Peter makes his choice, and he chooses Sidney. She becomes his all, because she is the reason he was saved the day he met her. But when he chooses Sidney his past has to come out in order from him to protect her. Sidney learns that Peter is not a Granz but a Ferro, Peter Ferro, who has grown up with old money and high expectations to run the family business. She feels betrayed like she did with Dean. After being lied to, she chooses to leave and her friend Millie tags along because she understands Sidney and knows she shouldn’t be alone.
But Dean is relentless and ends up trying to take Sidney when Peter shows up at the perfect time to save Sidney again. He doesn’t give her much choice but for him to travel with her home to Jersey.  He contacts his older brother, Sean, because he knows he’ll need his help to protect Sidney. This is the same brother who is accused of murdering his own wife.

Damaged 2 ends with a great story, Sidney’s life changed when she met Peter and the same happened to Peter when he met Sidney. Sidney has to get over what happened in her past in order to accept the love that Peter has for her.

“You don’t realize how much you’re worth, how wonderfully perfect you are. You saved me, Sidney…You took a broken man and revived him. No one else could do that. It was you, it’s always been you.”

H.M. Ward has done a great job with this series. I love how the Ferro Brothers World is all collided together with Arrangement, Damaged, and Stripped (coming in August). The Ferro brothers are HOT and I can’t wait to see what becomes of Sean, Peter, and Jonathan.

Home isn't supposed to be dangerous, but for Sidney it is. Returning home means that she has to face her past. It's not just the man who hurt Sidney that makes it horrible, but the family that didn't believe her. They were dead to her, but now that her mom is really dying things seem different. It's a chance to set things right.

What Sidney doesn't realize is that she's dragging Peter into a collision course with his past. Peter must deal with the demons haunting him if he wants to move forward with Sidney. He's willing to give up everything for her, even wade deeper into his past life to help her move forward. But, Peter isn't sure if he can get over what happened to him in New York.

A New Week....

So exciting!

I was just going through my Kindle this morning to decide what book I would read next. Not sure how many people are like me, but as I surf through Goodreads and Amazon if a book catches my eye then I buy it right then. I guess you could say I am an impulse book buyer, ha!

So at any given time I have anywhere from 5 to 10 new books waiting for me on my Kindle. But fear not, once I start a book I read it in a matter of a day or two.  I also wouldn't have it any other way : )

So for my new week I get to start my new ARC! So check back soon for my review of Damaged 2!

A Matter of Fate

Heather is a talented writer, what caught my eye with this book is the cover. It's intriguing to see a face covered by a hand through a hand, okay I sound crazy but the picture is different and the turquoise is eye catching.

OK now on to the book, I read the book description and I wasn't sure if I would enjoy the book. I took a chance and I am glad that I did.

Well I must say, the book is great more than great, exceptional! The story that follows Chloe is amazing. Kudos to Heather to come up with her story for the series. It's different, the magical life they live- its not something that you have ever heard before. It has an amazing love story that takes many turns. It messed with my head because when I start to root for one love then the other comes up and snatches me.

Oh Jonah, sweet sweet Jonah. What if he talked to Chloe when he first showed up in her class, would things have worked out differently? How about Kellan, even though they are twins Kellan has this allure to him incredibly handsome and swoon worthy. And how strong is Chloe when she is living a life that she doesn't even choose and parents that aren't there for her.

I am so ready for the next book to arrive, I need to know what Chloe's path leads her on, if danger still surrounds her.

So until A Matter of Heart.....

Sarah

Damaged by H.M. Ward

First I will say everyone must read Damaged by H.M. Ward. The one reason I even learned of the author and this series is seeing it on natashaisabookjunkie.com's blog.

This book was a different twist on what is "popular" in the book world right now. This book has a message, it has something for everyone in this book, it pulls on your heart strings.

You can follow Sidney's storyline easily, but what draws you in is how H.M. Ward tells her story. She has you on the edge of your seat to learn about what happened in her past. And you're her personal cheerleader from the beginning because you want her to have the best and to be happy. You go thru her struggles, pain, and even happiness.

I don't like spoilers so I will just say you MUST read this book. I am counting down the days till Summer to pick up on Damaged 2 to see where Sidney and Pete end up. Will they get together? What has happened in Pete's past?

My First ARC! Yay!

Oh my goodness!

I am so excited, I woke up today with a special email with an ARC attached.

So I'm over the moon (I know I'm old-fashioned) excited that it is my day off. So I know what I will be doing/reading all day.

I can't wait to post more info!

Conquer Your Love

So I just finished Conquer Your Love from the Surrender Your Love trilogy by J.C. Reed.

I need to start by saying I loved the first book, SYL. It did start off a little rough in the beginning but the story between Brooke and Jett was hot. I was intrigued and surprised that the book had a mystery as well as a love story. It's not your typical story about falling head over heels for your boss and following their everyday life.

Now on to Conquer Your Love, I was excited to see where Brooke's story was taking us. And of course rooting for Jett to run after his love. But what happens is not what I had in mind. The story line was confusing at times and certain "events" didn't make sense to me. I could follow along but I don't think J.C. gave enough interest into the story behind the estate and the scary things involved. I guess you could say it needed a little more fluff, I could go on about what I would change or add but I'm sure you want me to spare you.

Conclusion, I did like the book. Did I think it held up to the hype and suspense of us waiting after SYL, no. But you gotta love the ending of the book. It makes me happy for Brooke and Jett.
